Jennie is a former athlete. While she did not study Martial Arts growing up, she did various sports and even made the Junior Olympics qualifications in swimming. Her competitive nature and passion for sports and athletics taught her the importance of discipline. This understanding has carried through in many areas of her life from raising 2 daughters, to building a business alongside her husband, and currently includes teaching Kettlebells and training in tactical mixed martial arts.
After a hiatus from fitness and sports in order to raise a family, Ms. Jennie found herself extremely overweight and out of shape. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and underwent major surgery, chemotherapy & radiation. After completing treatments, Ms. Jennie didn’t even have the strength to walk a block without getting winded and have to stop. This is when she decided enough was enough and began to get back to the athlete she had once been. Over the course of these past 5 years, Ms. Jennie has dropped 100 pounds and gained mobility. She attests this healthy transformation to kettlebells and training martial arts. She is currently an assistant instructor who helps to teach martial arts for kids at Tactical Mixed Martial Arts under the instruction of her husband, Sensei Tony Jones.
